The Cohesive Colonial
This first-floor renovation of a 1920s Colonial was all about creating cohesion and flow while honoring the home's original character. The space previously featured four different flooring materials—each one clashing with the next—which we replaced with a single, elegant wood floor that grounds the entire level. In the kitchen, we preserved the original cabinetry to maintain the home's charm, but gave it new life with honed quartzite countertops, a handcrafted zellige tile backsplash, and fresh paint. The powder bath was reimagined with a thoughtful nod to the vintage bones of the home, blending timeless patterns with modern touches. Throughout the first floor, we painted every surface to lighten and unify the space, transforming it into a warm, functional, and upgraded family home that feels both classic and fresh.

It’s always powerful to look back and see just how far a home has come. These before photos tell the story of a space that felt fragmented and dated—full of potential, but lacking harmony. Seeing the transformation side by side highlights the thoughtful updates, elevated finishes, and cohesive vision that now define this family’s first floor.
